A port of an Amiga 500 classic

Scramble 500 is a free 2D side-scrolling game that is a recreation of a classic game for the Amiga 500 game console. Hop on to your spaceship and go on an adventure across the galaxy as the game challenges you to go as far as you can in its Scramble System. It recreates an authentic retro gaming experience, with its brightly-colored, low-resolution graphics and its 8-bit chiptune music.

If you’re looking for other faithful recreations like Scramble 500, you can also check out Amidar500, also for the same gaming console. For Commodore 64 fans, you can try Tutankham (C64).

See how far can you go

In terms of its graphics quality and game progressions, Scramble 500 is largely similar to Macross or Gradius. You avoid obstacles like the natural terrain, as well as flying opponents and projectiles. Additionally, your fuel drops as you fly around, making it absolutely important that you don’t miss any fuel tanks scattered across the stages. There are other upgrades and weapons that help you survive better.

Aside from shooting horizontally unto enemies in front of you, you’re also equipped with bombs you can drop on ground-based opponents like towers and missile launchers. In this iteration, you get to travel across six stages. It starts from an open space up until you reach the Scramble base. After this, the game loops back but in a higher difficulty setting.

Still, it is important to note that this game is not a standalone product. As a ROM file for the now-discontinued Amiga 500 gaming console, it requires you to have either the actual game system or a supported emulator for the game. Aside from that, the game runs smoothly and plays like the original 80’s game, making it a great option for retro gamers.

A fun retro experience

For those who played with the original Amiga 500, Scramble 500 will definitely feel right at home. Its graphics, audio, and gameplay mechanics all perfectly capture those of the original. The game starts out easy and steadily progresses, making it increasingly difficult with each run. Still, you’ll need a working console or an emulator to get it up and running. This game is highly recommended.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.
